Everything is in such flux that we have no actual plans. If we do leave our marina we will not be giving up our slip until we sure we are not returning. The marina has never been full in its 30-year existence, but now, through a confluence of factors, it is starting to fill and will probably become full.*

Countries, such a Canada and Australia, are canceling their national health insurance for anyone outside their home country’s borders, so there are a rush of foreign nationals leaving their boats behind as they fly home.

There were 26 known cases in Hawaii as of last evening; travel between islands is restricted, tourists as being told not to come, restaurants are closing, etc. We’re probably safer here than in Washington state so we’ll stay here while everything settles.

*The state of Hawaii has doubled all of its marina fees and added a $10 per day per person fee for anyone staying aboard. For Caro Babbo, this means our fees would be $1100/month at Ala Wai versus less than $500/month here. There is a mass exodus from the state run marinas as contracts come up for renewal, filling private marinas.
